Roman Day!

Posted by sdsbloguser on March 31, 2017 in Uncategorized |

Today we had a Roman day! We spent the morning making shields and swords ready for an afternoon battle! We were split into teams and got into the ‘testudo’ (tortoise) formation. Then we fought each other until there was only one team left standing! We also had a archaeological dig where we had to follow a series of clues to find a dig site. When we started digging, we found some buried pottery! Fun was had by all!

Last week we celebrated world book day. Year 1 joined us to share their favourite books and we shared ours. It was lovely to help the younger children develop their reading skills.

Fractions picnic

Posted by sdsbloguser on February 27, 2017 in Uncategorized |

This week we are learning about fractions. We started by having a picnic and thinking about how to share the food from our picnic equally. We discussed using a ruler to measure food and noticed that the denominator of our fractions showed how many pieces made up the whole.

Tempest performance

Today we performed our spoken word piece in front of the whole school. Although some of us were a bit nervous, we did a fantastic job at remembering our lines, actions and facial expressions.

Tempest Drama

Posted by sdsbloguser on February 5, 2017 in Uncategorized |

On Friday, both year 3 classes joined together to take part in some drama work about The Tempest. We read a scene from the play where Ariel asks Prospero for his freedom and the conversation soon escalates into an argument. We split into two halves: One half were Prospero and the other Ariel. To help us remember the words, we came up with actions for each line.

Welcome back!

Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a lovely and restful Christmas holidays. These past two days have been busy but exciting! Rowling class have learnt so much about Shakespeare with many of the children having done some great research over the holidays. Here we are doing some drama, exploring objects and showing everyone what we think Shakespeare meant by a “freckled whelp, not honoured by a human shape.”
